Its a marketplace where everyone knows the numbers. Rice’s team fucked up.

Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
Goose,
Why sell him he must be worth more than 50 mil a season to us . Let him run down his contract, you never know come the end of next season he might change his mind.

goose 2:49 Fri Jun 9
Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
Instead of crayons try using your brain.

He didn’t sign the contract.

You’ve got a £100m asset whose value will plummet in a years time. You need to maximise the value of this asset.
Is telling the world you need to sell the best course of action? Of course not.

Furthermore, advertising to any future signings that we will pay £200k a month in wages is just as dumb.

Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
If you’re siding with Rice you’re siding with his representatives who have Rice at heart ( and pocket). Many have often critiqued how we sign shit and get shafted. My position is its great when we havent done that.
As far as business is concerned, you win some and lose some and move on. Its business.

Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
Given some of the business failures you’ve inadvertently let slip on here Branded it is no surprise you think the club have played a blinder.

Sullivan has greedily and in his usual grubby style thrown his European trophy winning captain, the first for over 50 years, under the bus in his chase for a pound note.

Yes, he offered Rice a contract 18 months ago but what he neglected to say was it was a 7/8 year one which no player is going to sign at a club like ours run by a cunt like him.

But, the thing the usual lapdogs seem to be missing is THAT WAS 18 MONTHS AGO.

So what Sullivan is confirming here is that in the last 18 months, with all that has happened with Rice stepping up to captain and the European success of the club, he or his lackeys haven’t bothered putting another offer to Rice that might have been considered a bit more sensible or appealing?

The timing of Sullivan’s weaselling is designed solely to do one thing - preserve Sullivan’s image as he chases that pound note and turn the fans on someone who should be at his most popular right now.

He’s killed the story of us winning stone dead and now made it out that nasty ungrateful Rice thinks we’re beneath him and wants out and has done the whole time he’s been saying how much he loves us etc.

If I was Rice I’d be coming out with my own statement against the horrible midget gobshite cunt putting his side across.

The sooner this disgusting toad Sullivan fucks off for good the better.

Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
OK,

I’ll use crayons

200,000 a week is £10,000,000 a year

8 years = £80,000,0000

How much will it cost to replace him in fees and wages?

goose 1:52 Fri Jun 9
Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
yeh offering up £200k a week is really playing a blinder.

PostmanPissed 1:50 Fri Jun 9
Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
Because of the "two years to run on contract" comment immediately after the game Sullivan has panicked and by stating "He's played his last game, we want £120m or £100m plus a player from a champions league club" he has showed his cards and backed himself into a corner.

Will Arsenal honestly spend £150m plus in the same summer on two players that are quite similar when they could take a punt on Caicedo now and go for Rice next summer when he'll be cheaper.

City don't need Rice at the moment so that only really leaves Man. Utd or Bayern out of those interested.

I just feel Sullivans comments were designed to make Rice feel he's not wanted.

Ot if you WANT to sell and he WANTS to go.

Exactly. Surely Sullivan should be doing the opposite and be cagey about the state of play as far as Rice's future status is concerned? Telling potential suitors that he's definitely off and wants out is fucking brainless.

Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
We may indeed pay £200,000 a week for the best players. Most players arent and wont be in Rice’s position.

goose 1:33 Fri Jun 9
Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
how exactly have the club played a blinder?

from what i see any buyer now knows he's been told he can leave and wants to leave. sully has said we cant keep him so now we have to sell. what bargaining power does he have?

also the midget has made any future signings aware that we'll pay £200k a month.

Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
Club’s played a blinder and Rice’s advisers have fucked up. I feel a bit sorry for Rice but you need to chose your advisors very carefully.

The Ghost of Sven 12:53 Fri Jun 9
Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
What I dont quite understand is that when Rice had the rumoured £200k a week 8 year contract put in front of him that his advisors didnt say we will sign as long as there is a buyout clause of say £90m that is active from July 1 2023.

Maybe they did .... but as I understand it Rice has given up something like £10m in wages over the last 18 months by staying on his old contract

cholo 12:27 Fri Jun 9
Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
It's just the snide way Sullivan goes about things unfortunately, like offering ludicrously long contracts that no decent player in their right mind would ever sign and then using that refusal as some sort of evidence they want out.

Manuel 10:23 Fri Jun 9
Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
Wiltell - Yep, I think that's exactly what has happened, clearly Sullivan wants the money now and maybe he is right too, but yea he could have gone about it a better way.

Willtell 9:57 Fri Jun 9
Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
I'd say that it's fairly obvious that Sullivan's worst nightmare is Dec deciding to stay. I think it was also obvious that Dec was seriously thinking about it. That's why Sullivan nipped it in the bud.

WHU don't need a £120m DM as much as needing players to create and score more goals. The best way to pay for the expensive players needed is selling Dec unfortunately.

Tomshardware 9:50 Fri Jun 9
Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
Telegraph reporting that 92 million deal being prepared by Arsenal. Can't see the club turning that down.

WHU(Exeter) 9:38 Fri Jun 9
Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
“But I don’t know how or why he said this”

Because even on the day after one of the clubs greatest achievements, somehow it has to be about David Sullivan.

Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
If a top DM isn't much use, I can't see anyone wanting to pay £100 million for one

Coffee 7:53 Fri Jun 9
Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
"Let's face it there is only so far a top DM can improve you and this season we finished 14th with him playing every week."

Exactly.
